About the Mama Africa painting:
The Mama Africa painting is a part of the Geography series.
This painting emerged after listening to “Born a Crime”, an audiobook by Trevor Noah where he describes his childhood and early youth in South Africa. Among other things, the way he describes his mother stroke me the most. Beautiful, independent, rebellious but compassionate, enormously strong, and resilient — she became my inspiration for this painting. Although I haven’t used a real photo as a reference, I painted the emotions her image evoked in me.
This painting comes unframed and ships in the cardboard tube.

About the Geography series:
The Geography series is an exploration of the world’s cultures through humans. A series of faces, fictional and symbolic characters, vibrant colors that represent human-made cultural a social aspects of each place. The paintings are based on the impressions I get whether through visiting a place, reading about it, or in any other way encountering the culture.
